During Japan’s post-war recovery, the Banshu blade industry experienced rapid growth. Wholesalers sought to distinguish high-quality products with a brand name. They turned to the figure of Ichizo, known for his many dedications to local shrines and temples in Ono City during the Meiji era. Naming the brand after Ichizo linked the products’ superior quality to local history, enhancing trust and reliability in the brand.
